That’s why I created this blog, a place where I can share my thoughts and the way I want to learn. The way a person writes and explains something reflects their unique perspective. Not everyone sees the world in the same way, and not everyone processes information in the same way. Personally, I prefer studying with books that have beautiful graphs and diagrams. These visual elements help me delve deeper into the subject, especially when they are visually appealing.

Also I am motivated to create this blog because I am a big brother and I want to be a positive influence on my younger siblings. I aim to motivate and guide them to stand out and be different. Ok, but seriously
Fine, the boring answer: I’m Sebastián Araque, a backend software engineer based in Madrid, working on cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
I’m an Electronic and Telecommunications Engineer by training, top of my class in both degrees, and over the past few years I’ve drifted from networking gear into the software that runs on top of it. These days I build Syself’s managed Kubernetes platform out of Germany: Golang services backed by PostgreSQL and NATS JetStream, production deployments on Hetzner Cloud, and the unglamorous but critical stuff like PostgreSQL disaster recovery and low latency networking between nodes and clusters.
Before that, I coordinated an R&D team at Corporación Telemic (Inter) in Venezuela, where I got to touch a bit of everything: microservices on AWS, Terraform and CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines, observability with Prometheus and Grafana, and the part I’m proudest of: training AI models that analysed usage patterns across half a million customers and flagged over 4,000 cases of service abuse. I also spent time on ISP-grade networking (IPv4/IPv6, FTTx, OLT, BNG) and building Wi-Fi and IP backbone networks for events like FIFA and CONMEBOL.
I work daily in English (C1) alongside Spanish, and get by in French and Italian. I’m currently working toward the AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Associate certification.
